Who We Are

An Official Posse, Serving Navajo County

The Navajo County Sheriff’s Posse is a volunteer Search and Rescue organization that operates under the direction of, and with the endorsement of, the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office. When the Sheriff calls, our members are ready to assist with search and rescue, emergency response, and public safety across the county.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit made up entirely of volunteers. Our members are trained and certified, mounted and unmounted, and many cover the cost of their own gear and training so the Posse can respond wherever it is needed, including the remote and rugged country that makes Navajo County so difficult to search.

Each year we host our own Pony Express Ride, a horseback tradition that raises funds and awareness for our search and rescue work. Our inaugural ride was completed on January 31, 2025, and the second annual ride follows in 2026.
